![]() Haven't heard the Spanish dub, but the voice acting in the English dub sounds fine. Other characters, especially this series's rendition of the various legendary and mythical figures, are great as well. As for the typical, sibling relationship, it's exactly that rather than rivalry, and they always look out for each other. Lisa is the more serious and mature of the two, but she can take time to be frivolous every once and a while Nick is less serious, but he knows it's time to stop being so frivolous when he realizes he's gone too far for some reason or another. The main characters, Lisa and Nick, are great heroes who have great chemistry and complement each other well. ![]() Concerning the technicalities of this: the artwork is what I consider to be some of the better drawn, any animation errors aside, and the animation moves smoothly enough. In addition to this, there's sometimes a moral lesson to take from them as well. To name a couple of myths/legends the siblings and canine meet throughout their adventures, they include those having to do with the Midas touch and the Loch Ness Monster, among others. Once they get there, they become witnesses to the myth or legend, meet the figures associated with it, and face a problem in which they have to find a solution before they can return home to Denver, Colorado. Whenever they come across a picture, a crystal, or some other object they touch, it's activated, and they end up getting transferred to a time and place pertaining to the myth or legend, and associating with those. It follows two siblings named Lisa and Nick Campbell, as well as their pet dog, Zeus, who spend their free time exploring a cave known as The Cave of Mythos, as the former two explain in the intro. There are no tall tales nor yarns to be found here. This toon isn't just the stuff of myths and legends. One of the best to come out towards the end of the '90s, very impressive. I don't think this adventure program is like any other I've ever seen or, at least, know about at all. But regardless, the crew behind it did a well-done job on making legends and myths more exciting. ![]() I was surprised to learn that it's yet another foreign animated show (particularly from the European country of Spain). From the first seven episodes I've seen so far, this has been a blast. I first saw another promo pic with a link to videos of the series's episodes on Tubitv, but I'd watch them on Youtube instead. Another cartoon I don't recall knowing of before discovering it on the web. ![]() In most cases this is overkill, and you should instead stun the remaining combatant to stop them from offering you new critical hits, even though the stun damage will kill them faster than strictly necessary. If your last enemy has full HP, it is easy to attack twice with weak attacks every three turns and drag the fight out for a very long time. There's a bug, so you only need to use two. To reset this counter, you're supposed to have to use four non-stall-flagged moves. Using a blight or bleed can squeeze out one further if the last enemy will die to a tick on its next turn, the stall timer is paused. (Exception: -90% damage is too low, so vulnerability hex is stall-flagged.) After the third stalling turn you will take stress damage, and after the fourth they will call reinforcements. Except against fast-stall enemies, you now have two turns on which you can use 3 or 4 non-damaging moves. To do this, stall at the end of every fight until you're within a few points of full health.įirst, kill all but one enemy. If you have a good stunners and start with full health, there is no significantly threatening non-boss fight. Start every fight with full health and, if you have a stress healer, zero stress. It is possible to make parties that stun all four ranks, and they're some of the best. When it's reasonable to trinket for more +stun, do so. When designing a party, if you have a chance to swap in another stunner, do so. Because the abomination's stun is so damaging, it's worthwhile to take a shot at sub-30% effective stun odds. A party with both a plague doctor and abomination will prevent three quarters of the enemy's turns, will likely do so before most of the enemy party has attacked at all, and will shave enemy HP while they're at it. There is no such thing as a bad stun skill.Ī good party has two or three stunners. The two non-damaging single-target stuns have a shuffle and can stun row 4. Non-area stuns have additional effects, normally a significant amount of damage. He cannot stun row 4 nor stun two at once, but in exchange he can stun the front row (useful for stalling see section two), his stun is the second most damaging, he has a +speed camping buff, and his maximum stun chance is 10% higher than the plague doctor's.Īrea stuns (plague doctor and hellion) remove two enemy moves with one player move. The abomination also has nine speed and fantastic +stun class trinkets, including +accuracy. She also has superb utility, and almost any party can be improved by swapping in a backline plague doctor. She has nine base speed, can stun two targets, can stun all high priority targets, and she has two exceptionally good +stun class trinkets, which include +accuracy. The plague doctor is the Queen of All Stuns. With two +stun class trinkets, it's reasonable to stun twice or stun resistant targets like double-wides, and possible to stun three times in a row. ![]() The ideal stunbot is fast, has good reach, and has two +stun trinkets. Stuns are amazingly overpowered.Įvery party needs one stunbot. Before the present crisis, we were house hunting. When it comes to books, however, I am as (mad) maximalist as they come. The last time my husband caught me with the Dymo label-maker, he asked if we should make our own labels: “Man, Andy” “Woman, Laura.” Online, tsundoku cartoons annotate bookshelves with guilty scribbles: “books I’d look smart reading in public” “books I bought because the covers were pretty” “books I don’t ‘get’ but hold onto in the hope that some day I will.” One might add: “books bought in WH Smith while waiting for trains” “books given by friends insisting “This is so you.” (It so wasn’t) “books bought to impress boys you are no longer dating”. The word, thought to have been coined in the Meiji era (1868-1912), is a meeting of two ideas: tsunde-oku – to pile things up and then forget about them, and dokusho – reading books. The Japanese have a word for it: tsundoku – the pleasure of owning more books than you’ll ever have time to read. And those in the basket on the hall table. All together now: “Does this spark joy?” YES! And this one. I summon my inner Marie Kondo, approach the sitting room shelves. ![]() Perhaps it’s just as well that the Hay Festival is online only this year as I would surely return with armfuls of new volumes, destined to join the bedside pile.įrom time to time, I have a half-hearted go at thinning. If we are here until Christmas, I still won’t have made a dent. Even before the dash to the issue desk, I had more books than any sane woman should. We were, I feared, in for a long spell in solitary. When the nation was hoarding loo-roll and stockpiling tins, I hotfooted it to the London Library to panic-borrow books. Swab the decks, wipe the slate, have it all packed and ready for the Oxfam shop the minute the portcullis lifts. How many of us, in the first few days of (in)glorious isolation, thought: now for that cupboard, now for those bookcases. In the time of coronavirus, the nation finds itself with time, time, time on its hands. For while you will never regret buying a book, you may come to mourn throwing several hundred out. A little book-buying is a dangerous thing. Down it came, smash, crash, splinter, taking a chunk of the staircase and very nearly me with it. When I was 11, my Dad tried to shuffle an Ikea bookcase, newly (and loosely) constructed, against the wall. I had visions of suffering the sort of tragic death that befalls infants in Edward Gorey illustrations: “F is for Freeman, flattened by shelves.” ![]() I wasn’t sure if I was being used as a moral exempla or a cautionary tale: the woman who loved books too much. New shelves needed! Last year, Max brought his son. Once a year, I make an emergency call to Max the Carpenter. ![]() On the positive side, after making customizations to the font, the colors, and which UI widgets are displayed and which aren't displayed, using TextWrangler has been a more pleasant experience of late. And like Smultron, I wish TextWrangler offered an auto-complete feature. Instead of being centered, some of the dialogs ended up in the upper-left corner of my display. Another irritation is that dialogs don't end up in the right places. The initial choice of fonts and colors is less than pleasing, and while it seems fast, it's almost frenetically fast - it seems jumpy. ![]() I found the initial TextWrangler experience to be very disappointing. Although my initial experience with it was disappointing, it has been growing on me a little bit recently. So, for now, Smultron is my plain-text editor of choice, but TextWrangler has been growing on me recently, and may soon pass Smultron.Ĭoming from the same people that make BBedit, I had great expectations for the BareBones TextWrangler. If Smultron offered an auto-complete language feature for CSS and HTML (it does have support for these languages, but I haven't found an auto-complete feature), I'd probably use it all the time, and not bother with Komodo. Other than that, the basic Smultron features include: spell-checking, line numbering, the ability to edit multiple files simultaneously, a nice split-window view, full support for the Mac OS X metaphor, the ability to hide most UI widgets, and many other features. Hopefully this is a bug that will be fixed soon. I keep turning off line numbers, and every time I restart Smultron they're back on again. While I'll be using Komodo for editing language files (CSS, HTML, others), I'm currently using Smultron as a plain text editor instead of TextMate, and so far, I like it.īefore I get into the positive features, Smultron currently has one really annoying feature: It keeps forgetting that I don't like to have line numbers displayed. ![]() Other than the application icon they use, Smultron looks as Mac-like as any text editor I reviewed. I just visited the Smultron website, and the author has decided to discontinue development of the project. UPDATE: Smultron is dead long live Smultron. ![]() PRTG Network Monitor detects all network data activity and application usage of the system’s ports. The utility of this software relies on the support for analyzing great amounts of network data, such as passwords and log-in credentials or users’ online activity. If you’re wondering what a packet sniffer is, it can be explained in a few words: A network traffic analysis tool. Then the sniffer converts the analysis into a readable format, helping the network technicians to pinpoint network faults. The tool can analyze traffic from the entire network or only a small part. In order to work, the packet sniffer must have access to the wireless or wired network interface on its host computer.
